A new phrase?

Post by Lee »

I recently watched a Tiktok video, it was nothing worth posting as it was just one of those fake incidents about a lad who keeps asking where the toilet is and nobody understands!! 😂

However, the interesting bit for me is that at one stage, the lad says, "come on mate, I'm going to waz myself!"

I've never heard that phrase before! Has anyone else heard it?

I've heard it said by people 'oop north' and in parts of Scotland, but like the term 'having a slash' a Google search will reveal it doesn't recognise British colloquialisms in this regard.

Though if you search Oxford English Dictionary it suggests 'Having a Wazz' is "Dictionary

wazz
/waz/
INFORMAL•BRITISH
noun
an act of urinating.
verb
urinate."

I'd already heard of wazz as a noun and a verb, meaning the normal act of peeing, and according to bodgyuk so has the O.E.D. But I've never before encountered "waz myself" to mean peeing in my pants. I suppose it's a natural language progression though, because certainly "piss myself" and "pee myself" are already well established to mean that.

The TikTok account is @riviatakkoz and the relevant video is called Toilet Trouble, if anyone wants to watch it.

I’ve heard the term was before - as some else has suggested “waz myself” is just a natural progression presumably. I love hearing guys say “I’m gonna wet myself” or some variation of this!

I would think that "waz"(or whaz) would be the past tense of "whiz". ;-)
