He was in a smart tee shirt and jeans - blue denim fairly slim fit I think. I don’t know how far up the line towards London they were going and it was one of those trains that stopped at every station. He might just have managed it to Redhill if they were getting off there but East Croydon, Clapham or Victoria would have been nearly an hour and a half from Brighton and he would certainly have ended up sitting in a lake of his own making. I was also concerned that his friends didn’t seem to be supporting him in any way. They had moved further down the carriage. There was no attempt to find him a bottle and the train was packed, so the poor guy was frozen to the spot. He couldn’t get another train because it was at the time when they were cancelling trains on Southern, particularly late at night. He had no choice but to sit it out!

Early to mid 20s, probably out of his student days.

Fascinates me that you say he looked like he was about to cry. Can't imagine that.

He was experiencing both physical and emotional pain. He had good reason to cry!

Yes but it was very close! Train was so packed that there was no way that could get to the toilet- peed in a lager can under the table but that only took the edge off it lol
When we got to East Croydon the toilet on the platform was full but on seeing how desperate I was the guys at the urinal squeezed up to let me in!

At least you managed to get a table for cover and were presumably with friends who allowed or encouraged you to siphon some off in a lager can. That’s not easy to do when the ring pull hole is so small, especially as such a desperate one must emerge with a strong flow. That’s a story worth sharing!
