Love that account of you in the taxi @josh99. Were your friends in the taxi with you and did they know you were bursting or did you keep that secret?

We've all told ourselves, "I can hold it until I get home." Josh99 almost did! We've seen other posts on the same category, along with the "just barely made it" ones. Us guys must be optimists.

I was on my own in the taxi so only the driver knew if he could see me squirming in his mirror! If he did I bet he was wishing to get me home as soon as possible to avoid me wetting his seats.
I've been there a few times thinking I can wait until I get home and more often than not I can't!

I’ve had something that’s almost like the opposite of it happen. As opposed to “not quite making it”, it’s more of a “made it, but not quite”.
Back when I was living in NYC in my mid/late-20’s, at the end of a night out with many drinks, I got on the wrong train and ended up going in the opposite direction of my apartment. By the time I realized what had happened, I was absolutely bursting and about to be in Brooklyn instead of Manhattan. I knew I couldn’t wait until I got back on another train and went to my apartment, so I exited the station and went searching for somewhere to pee.
The best I could do in my hurry was find a dark alley. So I hobbled into the alley and had 10 seconds of glorious relief before a door less than 20 feet from where I was peeing against a wall suddenly opened and a few people came out. I immediately put myself back into my pants and zipped up while turning away from them and walking out of the alley, but there was 5 seconds where I just couldn’t stop and was just sort of going in my pants. Eventually, they were out of the alley and I was able to go back and finish my business.

@FranticK I love that! 5 seconds of not being able to stop must have resulted in you being totally wet and having to travel home on the correct train in that soaking state, I guess? Actually I'm impressed that you managed to stop peeing at all given that you'd started up from such a bursting state.

Stopping after ten seconds shows remarkable control!

@Brian: yup, boxers were soaked, pants weren't in fairly rough shape, but I was saved by the fact that my pants were dark blue so it wasn't very obvious.
@Fred: thank you! It really did. It's like being badly dehydrated, finally getting a glass of water, and as soon as the first sip passes your lips the rest of the glass disappears. The frustration was REAL.

Watching videos of guys peeing after holding for "too long", the first 20 seconds or so are often firehose gushes before the flow settles down to just strong and steady.

That's absolutely correct Fred and Wombat. And of course, it HURTS to stop a firehose gush like that. There was a very strong cramp in my clenching muscles when I actually had managed to stop it.
