It's apparent that Dad was about to pee his pants (maybe even started to leak). It's interesting that he had to pee that bad but she didn't. Dad might have prostate issues, but it's also possible that at their last stop on the way, Mom used the rest room while he filled up on gas, then he either thought or stated that he really didn't have to go or could hold it until they got to their destination.
