Those keycards can be a problem. I can envision someone arriving at their hotel with a full bladder after a long drive, standing in line to check in, waiting for the elevator, and then the long walk down the corridor to the room - and discovering that the keycard is a dud! So he retraces his steps along the corridor, waits for the elevator, then stands in line at the reception desk to get a new card. Then back up the elevator, along the corridor to the room. All the while his detrusor muscles are contracting and his sphincters are trying to hold it back. Then finally the blessed relief!

Pee pee dancing in an elevator always strikes me as increasing the chance that it will break down between floors. Just when you really really don't want that to happen!
