Getting a pat-down with wet pants would be unpleasant for security personnel, and a diaper fully loaded with urine would be a relatively solid mass, and perhaps suspicious. Also suspicious would be a well-endowed man with an erection. ;-)

Short-staffed, crowded airports are common worldwide, so I'm glad I have no travel plans!

Why would they permanently close the toilets for everyone, and not just for the disruptive passengers?

Yes, and why remove the poor guy who had no option but to wet himself from the flight instead of the only the two who were being disruptive?

Reading between the lines, I guess there must have been more general rowdiness on board, not just from the offending couple. Perhaps the poor bloke who had to do it in his pants was one of the rowdy ones. If it had only been the couple identified in the article, the flight crew could have merely detained them in their seats and avoided closing the toilets for everyone else.

Is it any wonder that the airlines are having a hard time recruiting flight attendants? They should be getting combat pay for dealing with groups like this.

There are actually several reports online about the incident. One says that the mates of the bloke who wet himself in his seat, stayed with him. That would suggest he might well have been one of a group on a stag party or lads holiday, type of thing.

It’s a bit embarrassing that he tried to get the locked toilet door open, which would have caught the eye of everyone, before returning to his seat and then just going in his pants. Substantially, by the sounds of it!!

Talk about making yourself the centre of attention!!

Well, how utterly humiliating this must have been for him, even before he drenched himself. It's bad enough to have to admit you're so desperate that you have to try to use a toilet which has been declared out of use in front of all your friends and the rest of the plane-full. Then to have to go back to your seat with all eyes on you, everyone knowing that you tried and failed, that is cringeworthy. And then to sit there and wet yourself with all your mates around you and other passengers behind you grumbling about piss all around their shoes, ouch! This will have been an experience he won't ever forget. He won't touch the beer before the next time he flies.

That depends on his age. Some under-25 lads can push a humiliating experience out of their minds by the time they're on their third beer. He may figure he peed himself after five beers, so if he has only two or three it won't be a problem.

Wow, he must have been absolutely bursting when he tried to use the toilet, so I can’t imagine how he felt when he was told he’d have to keep holding it while knowing he was close to his limit.

In a situation like that, I’m sure he figured the worst case scenario was that he’d have an embarrassing public accident in front of everyone on the plane (a very bad outcome!). But in reality, the story of his accident has been written about online which means it will live on for years and be known by far more people than just those on the plane. You also have to wonder how many people who know him have heard about the story and read the articles about it. It’s not a big stretch to think that a story of his accident was told to an acquaintance who wasn’t there in-person, and they were told “look! They even talk about it in this article about the flight!”
