There is a local festival on at the moment and this happened on the bus down to it yesterday.
The bus was packed but I could clearly hear the guy behind me (early 20s, white T-shirt, dark blue shorts) say “fuck sake” as the bus stopped, yet again, at a set of traffic lights. He explained to the girl he was with that he was busting, and may have to get off early if there was any more than 5 minutes left of the journey.
For the next few minutes (at least) I got to hear a running commentary of his dire need to urinate, including a golden conversation between the 2 about why nobody else had to pee. The girl told him it was because they had all gone before they left, it was only him that didn’t. He tried to argue that he hadn’t expected so much traffic and thought he would be fine.
I think the panic really set in when the girl told him there probably wouldn’t be toilets at the entrance to the festival. He was adamant that he needed to get off at the next stop, even though she pointed out there wouldn’t be toilets there either and there would be quite a walk to the nearest ones.
Even so, he pressed the buzzer to stop and said he was getting off and that she should stay with the others. She refused this and went with him.
It took a while for him to move down the bus as it was so crowded. He also stopped to explain to his friends that he was “busting” and would catch up to them later.

I couldn’t turn around to watch all of this unfold but he definitely sounded at his limit. I’m fairly sure if the girl hadn’t insisted on coming with him he would have just whipped it out in the street after getting off the bus!

Great story! Did you manage to see any of the desperation? Also, any further details about how he looked -- height, build, hairstyle?

Annoyingly I couldn’t see any of it but his hand was firmly in his pocket as they got off the bus. Slim but muscular, short cropped hair and about 6 foot tall.

Something very minor I witnessed on holiday in Athens a couple of weeks ago:

My partner and I were wandering through the streets there in hot summer temperatures when I noticed a group of people all around 30 years old, probably tourists like us, walking nearby in the same direction, one of whom was a hot looking guy in long grey sweatpants. I was slightly fixated on him, partly because almost everyone else was wearing shorts in the hot weather, but also because I love that garment on guys as it's interesting to imagine what it will look like if a guy accidentally pisses himself in them.

Suddenly there was the most gigantic downpour of rain, really heavy and drenching rain, very unusual for the region. My partner and I immediately took shelter under an overhanging roof, and I noticed the group I had seen doing the same nearby. Everyone was hoping that the heavy shower would pass so that we could all continue, but it just didn't, it went on and on and on.

During all this, I kept looking at grey sweatpants guy, and every time I looked he was standing there with his group moving his buttocks around, not keeping still at all, and I fancied a rather anxious look on his face. He certainly wasn't dancing for fun. You could see the movement very easily under the grey garment where his backside was sticking out. It was like something you would do if you were cold and trying to warm yourself up, but the weather was baking hot despite the rain. I was quite certain he really needed to piss, and very badly too. We stood there for the best part of an hour, and all the time this guy was pee-dancing there with his friends, no-one able to leave the shelters we were standing under.

I wish I'd stayed around longer than I did, but after nearly an hour the rain finally started to let up a bit and my partner and I needed to move on. We left the group with grey sweats guy still dancing on the spot like that.

There are almost no public toilets in that city centre at all (as I found to my own cost!) and to go for a pee as a tourist you have to find a café or something and be a customer there. There were no cafés anywhere nearby either (otherwise we might have dived inside one ourselves).

So I was left wondering what happened after that, when the guy's group finally moved on (the rain didn't let up completely for maybe another hour), and how he managed to pee in the end.

Did he grab at all?

Years ago as a tourist, I quickly learned to pee whenever there was an available toilet because many places have so few of them.

@bearshel Sadly I didn't witness him grabbing, only the constant movement of his buttocks. But just like you, I love to see a guy doing that. You can bet I was watching for it. And I bet he would have been grabbing if his friends hadn't been with him and he'd had a bit of privacy.

@Fred Yes, and in Athens if you want to pee you really do seem to have to go to a café as a customer or a museum or back to your own accommodation.

Ah yes, pockets have their special uses when you're with friends and you're dying for a piss. No doubt he was doing that!

A vacation abroad while exciting brings challenges. The foreign language, the disruption of a lad’s morning routine, the extra coffee required to recover from jet lag... These are an annoyance but are not nearly as challenging as the lack of knowledge concerning spots a man can securely relieve himself which all local lads possess.

I can only imagine the herculean need the lad in sweatpants you describe must have felt after an hour holding back an already bursting bladder with little idea of where or when he might release even of portion of its contents.

I took a walking tour in Europe once where a group of college lads who had evidently enjoyed a few beers with breakfast were similarly taken by surprise when the guide confirmed the only toilets on offer would be public ones in the city center.

This caused great concern to their portion of our tour group but our guide assured them they would need only to wait a few minutes before we reached them.

A agonizing (for the college lads) 5 minutes later we reached the promised bathrooms.

There was, of course, a significant queue for them.

After about 10 riveting minutes of pacing, cupping, dancing and white-faced requests to cut ahead of the man at the front of the queue (50 euros was offered and denied) the tour guide hustled the lads one by one into a small space between some trash bins and a construction wall.

After another few equally riveting minutes where discussions were had of who would next visit this emergency urinal and lurid descriptions of the urgency of their need were shared, all bladders were emptied (my own included) and the tour continued.

I suspect your Athens lad may have faced a similar predicament, and even though in my imagination I cannot help but picture a man in soaked gray sweats, ass-protruding as he hunches over at the front of a line, I do hope a local kindly showed your lad a spot where a man in trouble can go to get the comfort he deserves.

That's an absolutely brilliant account of your European tour, AlphaJock. My experience of these tours is that the guides are always well aware that some of the guys are going to need to pee, and not always after a reasonable period from the start of the tour, and they do plan for these things. But your guide, while similarly well prepared with some toilets lined up a few minutes away, really had a handful with your group of guys who hadn't planned ahead when they had breakfast! I love the offer of fifty euros to jump the queue!

Medical researchers tell us that the brains of males may not become fully developed until as late as age 26, so they may not be fully able to plan ahead until then, if ever. These young lads may be aware of the diuretic effect of beer and coffee, but they will guzzle their beverages, perhaps expecting that a toilet will magically appear when they need it, or that they will somehow be able to hold their bladders despite their drinking. Over the years I've seen many of them desperate to pee when those of us older and wiser would have been more prudent.
